American Style Baccarat - The version of baccarat played in the American and Caribbean casinos and commonly called Baccarat.

Auction - The bidding in Chemin de Fer for control of the shoe.

Baccarat - The gambling card game of French origin. Also, the score of zero.

Baccarat a Tout Va - Literally, everything goes baccarat characterized by no maximum limits on bets.

Baccarat Banque - The form of baccarat where there are two Player positions and the casino books all bets.

Banco - The Bank position; in Chemin de Fer, a bet by a player, fading or covering the entire bank.

Bank or Bank Position - Also Banco. One of the two betting positions.

Banker - The player in Chemin de Fee who acts as Bank and books all wagers.

Bank Hand - See Bank.

Big Table - Term used to denoted baccarat games at the regulation full-size tables as opposed to baccarat at a mini-baccarat table.

Bum Cards - Unplayed cards removed from play.

Burning - The act of removing unplayed cards from play.

Caller - The baccarat dealer who controls the pace and runs the game.

Card Counting - A method of keeping track of cards already played so that knowledge of the remaining cards can be used in a winning strategy.

Chemin do Fer - The European form where one bettor plays the Bank position, deals the cards and books all bets.

Commission - The 5% fee taken by the casino on won Banker bets.

Cover - See Fade.

Croupier - The French tern for dealer. Also Dealer.

Dealer - The person dealing the cards or the casino employee running the game. Also Croupier.

Discard Bowl - The slot toward the middle of the table where burned and played cards are deposited.

Face Cards - The jack, queen and king

Fade - Also Cover, Betting term describing the act of betting against the bank.

Le Grande - A two card natural of 9 points.

Le Petit - A two card natural of 8 points.

Layout - The marked betting surface upon which the game is played.

Player or Player Position - One of the two betting positions in baccarat. Also Punto.

Player - Bettor who participates in the game.

Punto - The Player position.

Shill - Casino employee hired to sit at table and make the game look busy.

Shoe - The rectangular device used to hold the cards.

System - A method of play or betting.

Table de Blanque - Also Scorecard or Tally Sheet. Sheet of paper used to record wins, losses and other data from a game.

Tie Bet - A wager on a tie hand, allowed in American Style Baccarat and Mini-Baccarat.
